Culture Groups

It is nearly the end of the year and for each year there is always a prize-giving following with our culture groups. There is only a short limited time for each culture. Our school only does Tongan, Samoan, Maori and lastly Cook Island. If the students are another culture they can join in any if they want to. Culture groups is going to be a quick activity and then we move on. There are only year eights, sevens and a bit of the year sixes because there are not enough people. The students who are in the groups are just presenting their special dance and their love for their culture.

Changing Fitness Again! 😫😫

Last week Mr Reid  was busy with the athletics team. The rest of the teachers decided to change our fitness while he was busy. They changed it to Chinese Wall. Chinese Wall is a game, there are two teams which is the wall and  the runners. It has to be in a diagonal line and the wall team is not allowed  run through the wall unless your in the running team. Once the runners have run out  of people then that's when they switch sides. It looks hard but you have to work as a team and then maybe it will look more easier. It is an enjoyable game and it's fun to play.

Disruptive Sounds of Thunder

Today the weather has been strange. During reading we have been hearing some weird noises. It  sounded like thunder and lightning. The weather has been changing from rainy, sunny and dark clouds. To reduce the clatter and disruptive noises our teacher said, "Close the windows and keep reading."

It was quite windy as well but luckily I had my jumper on. I hope when tomorrow comes there will be a change in the weather and it will hopefully be better. If it is sunny we can play outside which is my preference.

School Assembly

This Monday the entire school had to strolled quietly to the multipurpose room. Mrs Vickers was talking about all the safety rules when your going trick or treating. She also talked about always have someone over 18 years old to look after you if something happens, she also talked about being good because next week we are all going to the Manaiakalani Film Festival but except the naughty people. So we are trying to be the best we can.

Test Are beginning!!

This week we sat our tests and nearly everyone of us were nervous because we didn't know there was going to be a test. The subjects of the tests were maths and spelling. For the maths test we were given two minutes to complete the sheet. There were four maths sheets which were separately handed out. They were multiplication, division, subtraction and addition. For spelling Mr Reid just pronounced the word and we had to spell it. I was shaking but I tried my BEST!!

Goals For Term 4! 😊

Today we are writing up our goals. We had to do a goal for every subject except inquiry. My personal  aim is to concentrate on my education because next year I will be going to college. My reading goal is read more often at home, my writing goal is to use more academic words in my writing and my maths goal is to show evidence when solving problems. I'm going to  try and achieve my goals  and be BETTER THAN BEFORE!!

Fitness Was A Disaster

Today is a new week and for every week our fitness changes. For this week's fitness we are doing relays. Because the year 7 & 8's were disorganised, and didn't order the teammates and telling them how to do it, the year fives and sixes were standing there looking around  figuring out who to pass the baton to. They didn't know who their teammates were before they left for the field. But we will be trying again tomorrow and it fails we will be doing Ms Riley's fitness which is circuits. But at least tomorrow we can try to be successful and be better than before.

First Tech Of Term 4

On Wednesday the year 7 and 8 students went to Tamaki College for Technicraft. We are with Mr Grundy and we are learning how to cut glass and to make stain glass. There are many types of wounds you can get when your with him that's why we have to act two years up from our age because if we are silly you don't know what will happen. When we first changed class rooms we had to learn all the rules for his room and how to use the tools then we had to practice on a plane glass and draw designs to deal with the different colored glass. It's fun but dangerous inside Mr Grundy's workshop.

Our Science Experiment πŸ˜πŸ˜ƒ

Today we had science and we were trying to combine colours by spinning the wheel extremely fast. The circle had to be coloured in two colours on each side. One of the combinations were dark blue and dark green.  A new colour was created by spinning fast. Because human eyes can't keep up with the spin,  it changes colour. It was cool seeing different colours. They were primary colours but then it changed into secondary colours like purple for example. It was amazing doing it because other people were smiling and enjoying science.

Making A Movie😁

For the past few weeks some of the classes have been trying to create a movie. My class's movie is about How To Be A Good Rugby Player. Nearly two times a week we go out to film. While we are doing that the rest of the children have to be absolutely quietly so that we can focus and get the filming done. I think that the idea is excellent because it's about the New Zealand history.

Orienteering 😫

Today was extremely entertaining because Leon (orienteering teacher) came into our class to teach us the symbols and other stuff. Now we are receiving a map and a clip card. You have to run around with the clip card,  stamp the letter andread a map that tells you where to go. At first  I believed that it would be  hard but at the end it actually  seemed a lot easier.  I still managed to do it. It was tiring but fun. 😁

Back At School And Ready To LearnπŸ€”

Today is the start of school and term three has begun. I knew from the smiling expressions on the students' faces that everyone wants to learn and be better than before. In the assembly our Principal asked us to stand up if we read in the holidays.  She was shocked at the numbers, but in a good way and a little disappointed with the people who didn't read. But today was a good day at school. 😁

Room Twelves Karaoke Performance

This Wednesday all of Room 12 is going to sing a song called "How Far I Go" by Alessia Cara. We are going to sing it in front of many parents in the library. We have been practicing hard because we have to do it without the words. Everyday after fitness we repeat the song three times, one with the lyrics then the rest without words and the sound of the person singing is quiet. Our teachers keep a good eye on us to see if we actually sing. We are being BETTER THAN BEFORE! The Song

St Kents Day😎😁

Last week a group of people had been chosen to go to St Kents to play some games and sports. When we arrived, there were three boys waiting for us so they could take us to the court. We are so lucky because only a few people where selected to go. We were all split into 5 groups and were each taken away in to separate places to play lots of fun games. It was entertaining, we sang a Maori song. Later on we sang a happy birthday song to Musica because it was his birthday. Near the end of the activity we said "thank you." Finally we went back to school.

Skipping Is Coming Up!πŸ˜„

πŸ˜„Very soon my school ( Ruapotaka School) is going to have an event called Skipping. Every year all the classes do a display then we have a skip off. If you want to win, your stamina and your skipping have to be good. When we do the skip off we stand in separate spaces so no one gets muddled up. Then you skip for as long as you can. Later one of the teachers will say, "Double under" and that's when it gets hard. And the last three who skip the longest get a special certificate for coming first, second or third. So we are practicing hard.

Daily Fitness Is Tiring😫

Everyday we have been running for our fitness for 10 minutes. Some people either walk, talk or they actually do it which is jog. We are not suppose to walk or sprint we are meant to be  keeping a steady pace so we don't run out of energy. Running is tiring but it helps us keep fit and strong. Running is very important especially if you are lazy. You have to at least try.

National Milk Day! πŸ₯›

Today is an incredible day because it is National Milk Day. We get milk from Fonterra. They provide milk for us and makes us fit and healthy. Every school now has milk delivered to them. We have milk and drink it at morning tea. Milk comes from the cows udder's then farmers have to milk them. After we drink our milk we have to fold the carton in a certain way. So drink milk and stay strong. πŸ₯›

We Made History! πŸ˜…πŸ˜

We traveled to Tamaki College by school van and arrived at Point England Reserve for the epic interschool soccer tournament. We played against Glen Taylor first and won 1-0, then Tamaki Primary and we lost 1-0. We had a talk about what we did wrong and which positions we were goning to play.
We played against Sylvia Park and won 1-0, then Saint Patrick and won 7-0. We played against Stonefields in the finals. It was a tough game and no one won so we came first equal place with  the school. Dakbai got the most goals and their wonderful and supportive leader, me, got a MVP (Most Valuable Player).

We are  2017 CHAMPIONS!😊😊

Back At School Term 2 πŸ€”πŸ˜¬

Term 2 is when we all began to go to school again and I was extremely excited because my holidays were dull. We all collaborated well in our work and kept learning different stuff. Easter and Anzac Day were the two remarkable events in our holidays. Anzac Day is a day to commemorate because of all the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for us. Easter is celebrated because of Jesus's resurrection from the dead.

Tech With No Chromebooks ☹

This Wednesday the year 7 and 8 students went to Tech without their chromebook because our teachers said not to. All the year eights are doing cooking and all the year sevens are doing woodwork.
The year eights made some delicious spicy hot chicken nibbles, unfortunately it was too hot. But it was still tasty.

Our Funny Visitor πŸ˜‚πŸ‘πŸ‘

Today a special visitor came and his name was Robert Rakate and he is from the Brown Wiggles. He came to our school with Henry to inspire us to read. Robert was very entertaining and funny. He was telling us about his year eight son who doesn't clean his room and his favourite book that was written many years ago.

Cooking Lessons (Tech at Tamaki College)

Every week the year 7 and 8 students travel by bus to Tamaki College. Last year there were three classes but we have less students so there are only two now. We do cooking with Mrs Tuipolotu and woodwork with Mr Grundy. I think everyone likes tech because it is fun.

Room 11 Syndicate Assembly

Last week Room 11 hosted the syndicate assembly. They did a singing competition and each room had to choose two or more people to compete in it. We all liked it because it was funny and they had good voices.

The First Duffy Show 2017

Today the entire school walked to the multipurpose room for the Duffy Show. It was about a super girl called Millicent from another world
who was sent to fix the Planet Earth's global problems. She doesn't know how to read so she creates more problems for Earth. Duffy had to help her read and together they save the world. And everything went back to normal.

The First Syndicate Assembly

On Tuesday Room 12 was hosting the first Syndicate Assembly of 2017. It was funny because near the end we did a Dance Competition. Me and Azahar went to the seniors to get two or more or less people and wrote their names on a piece of paper. Sadly Room 12 couldn't be considered for our placings. The winners were Room 10 . Here are the champions video.
